Before you get started on spring cleaning your kitchen and pantry areas, you will need to gather your supplies and make a game plan. Whether your kitchen is big or small, the supplies and steps are pretty standard across the board.

However, with Homage Essentials, you won’t need a cleaning crate full of sprays and cleaners. Homage Essentials hydrogen peroxide based cleaning concentrates contain 7% hydrogen peroxide and organic plant based surfactants. Did you know that hydrogen peroxide is an antimicrobial agent and an oxidizing agent? When combined with organic surfactants, like the ones used in Homage’s cleaning concentrates, you get a natural cleaning concentrate that fights germs while making your home sparkle. This means you can use one product to clean and disinfect almost every surface in your home!

Deep Clean Your Kitchen and Pantry Supplies

It’s always important to set yourself up for success when getting ready to deep clean any area of your house. For the kitchen and pantry, you’ll need a few things:

  • trash bags
  • box for recycling and/or donations
  • broom
  • mop
  • vacuum with attachments (to get in those corners)
  • microfiber cloths
  • Homage cleaning concentrate, diluted and stored in a dark spray bottle. (See how to dilute the concentrate here)
  • upbeat music playlist or interesting podcast to keep your mind occupied while you clean

Now that you have your supplies, there are a few steps we recommend for deep cleaning your kitchen and pantry.

Empty It and Toss It

The first step is, ‘Empty It and Toss It’. That’s right, things will get messy before they get clean. You need to empty your cupboards, drawers, and shelves. Work in sections so you don’t get overwhelmed. You need to get each section emptied out so you know what you’re working with, and so you can reach those corners to truly get it clean. While you are emptying your cupboards and drawers, keep a trash bag handy and toss anything that is broken, unusable, expired, or no longer needed. It’s amazing what gets shoved into the back of your cupboards over time. By doing this at least once a year, you’ll save yourself from having cupboards and drawers that are overflowing with items you aren’t using.

Don’t forget to do this step in your fridge, too! Toss any food that is no longer edible or expired. You’ll want to work quickly with refrigerated items if your home is warm, to prevent anything from spoiling from being on the counter too long.

Wipe It Down and Clean It Out

After you finish the ‘Empty It’ step, you will move on to the next step. This step is where the real work begins! We will call this step, ‘Wipe It Down and Clean It Out’. Grab your diluted Homage Essentials Cleaning Concentrate in your spray bottle, a microfiber cloth or two, and start deep cleaning your kitchen and pantry shelves and cupboards. Make sure you get in the corners, up to the ceiling, and anywhere else that is dirty. Using your vacuum’s hose attachments can help you get any dust or crumbs that are hiding in these areas. Replace any shelf liners during this step, too. It will feel so nice to put everything back into a sparkling clean space!

For your fridge, we recommend using Homage Cleaning Concentrates on the outside of your fridge to clean it, and on the inside walls. For the shelves and drawers, hot, soapy water usually does the trick quickly and easily.

Once everything is emptied, wiped down, and cleaned out, it’s time to put your items back so you can move onto the rest of your kitchen. Don’t forget to clean your appliances--large and small, too. Did you know you can use hydrogen peroxide to clean your stovetop? Check out this post  for tips on cleaning with hydrogen peroxide.

Dust It, Sweep It, Mop It

Now that you’ve got the cupboards, drawers, shelves, and appliances sparkling clean, take a look at your countertops, light fixtures, and floors. Grab a microfiber cloth and your spray bottle and dust your light fixtures, the tops of your cabinets and fridge, any decorations you have on your walls, and even your window sills. Wipe down your countertops with your Homage Essentials diluted cleaning solution (rinsing afterward if necessary). Then, sweep your floors. Pay special attention to the corners of your kitchen and pantry. Move any large items you can so you can get those areas that aren’t easily accessible. Finally, it’s time to mop. You’re almost done!
